The Comox Valley Food Bank is seeking people with various backgrounds to serve as directors on its board of governance as the non-profit organization moves forward in its commitment to end food insecurity among the residents of urban and rural populations in the Comox Valley, from Oyster River to Cook Creek, including Hornby and Denman Islands.
Prospective directors should be progressive and community-minded team-players with a strong desire to give back by helping those who are food insecure.
In addition, those with skills in the following areas would be strongly considered:
- previous experience serving on a non-profit governance board
- community connections
- business experience
- good communicator and ability to do some basic research
- finance or business management
- secretarial background
Successful board directors would attend monthly board meetings via Zoom and would sit on one committee. Board members often review and create policy, develop and amend the mission vision, and values through strategic planning. In compliance with the BC Societies Act, Board Directors are volunteers and do not receive remuneration.
